What is

Health at Every Size?

The Health at Every Size model is an alternative to traditional weight-focused interventions.  HAES emphasizes:
  • the quality of your day-to-day life,
  • finding sustainable ways to take care of yourself, and
  • accepting the size that your body is when you are taking care of yourself as your unique healthy weight.

HAES (SM) also emphasizes the importance of ending weight stigma and discrimination as broader interventions that will support the health of people of all sizes.  Finally, HAES practitioners try not to add to the moral freighting of health and illness that is rampant in our culture (i.e., "healthism").
